filosof lamp in polished nickel

Designed by architect Lars-Erik Ejlers in 1990, the Filosof Lampen has quietly held classic status among those who knew it, particularly the architects who knew Ejlers and took it to heart. 

The design rests on very few elements. Its form draws from familiar references, the soft curve of a cymbal, the precise expression of a camera lens, and the parts are held together by nothing but the weight of the metal itself.

The shades are hand-formed in Denmark by craftsmen working with traditional metal spinning, a technique today practised by very few. The polished nickel version is a reinterpretation of the original, which came in polished brass and copper.

Produced in Denmark by Fripon, established in 2025 to carry the lamp forward.
